Building Organizational, Team, and Individual Competence
For more than 20 years, Perkins Williamson Associates (PWA) has built competency models to help employees, managers, business units, and entire companies understand the skills and behaviors critical for success.
PWA helps you clarify the specific knowledge, skills, and behaviors—competencies—required for successful accomplishment of your organization’s goals and objectives by individuals, teams, departments, functions, and business units. We can help you create customized competency models for your business.

Creating Better Solutions with Design Thinking
Design Thinking is essentially problem solving, solutions generation, and decision making which maximizes the use of technology and data analytics, and consists of five phases.

Data Analytics for Better Organizational Design and Diagnosis
PWA knows cursory reviews and quick fixes rarely work.
Therefore, we use a thorough organizational analysis process to get to the root of the organizational problems. As expert researchers, we investigate organizations using a variety of techniques, including both qualitative (e.g., interviews, focus groups) and quantitative (e.g., surveys, assessments) methodologies.
Our approach is collaborative. We believe people within the organization have valuable insights and solutions for the problems they face every day. Our recommendations are actionable; we blend organizational theory and research with business application and practicality. And our solutions get positive results. We are absolutely committed to making your organization function as well as possible.

HR Practices and Workforce Optimization
Perkins Williamson Associates (PWA)’s Human Resources Practice assists large and small HR organizations to effectively support their business partners by creating state-of-the-art, business-driven solutions for strategic alignment and human resources planning.

Meet the Founder & CEO
Dr. Addie Perkins Williamson
When I founded PWA, I wasn’t perfectly sure I wanted to become an external consultant. After a successful career as a senior executive with The Chase Manhattan Bank, Pfizer, The Pepsi Cola Company, and American Express, I found I liked working with teams solving complex business problems. In comparison, consulting seemed a lonely existence to me. It, therefore, came as a pleasant surprise to learn how much positive impact we could have on organizations working in partnership with clients and their teams.
I am fortunate to work with a select group of 10-25 associates who provide expert advice all around the world. Together we have executed a wide variety of projects designed to maximize both business performance and employee engagement—with a special emphasis on creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment to further drive financial performance.
At this point, PWA is particularly focused on helping organizations transition from more traditional leadership capabilities to skills required for the newly emerging digital-technical workplace. The Fourth Industrial Revolution is here. We help you avoid being left behind.
Perkins Williamson Associates is based in the Washington, D.C. area.
